Graffiti in Kota Kinabalu

Had an evening tea with a buddy on the 6th, and he told me that there will be some street artists going to do graffiti works on the following day, in the afternoon, at an abandoned ruin in the city area.

A little bit of story, before the building was mysteriously burnt down, it was once a crime spot for transsexuals and drug addicts, after it’s abandoned, of course.  Some believe that it’s those drug addicts who caused the accident (who knows?).  A more detailed info about the building can be found here

Anyway, artists didn’t just go there out of the sudden.  Heard from a friend that there was one person who actually went to apply for a permit from the city council to do some art works on the ruin, and got an approval.  And that person is? The mayor’s daughter!   Since then, we get new paintings on the ruin every now and then from some talented painting artists although only the mayor’s daughter has the approval from the council…but who cares?  That’s the way of a freestyle artist!  Their way to express their point of view towards issues in our societies and the world we are living in.
